| Just wondering if anyone had any information about the D'Agostino family, originating from Picinisco, and settled in Springburn, Glasgow. They ran the Princes Cafe on Gourlay Street. |

| If you give me a little more information, I'll take a look. Names, surnames, dates, etc... |

Sorry I dont have much to go on other than the family ran the Princes Cafe in Glasgow. Maria and Anthony D'Agostino were the siblings, born around 1920-30s? Might be from somewhere else in Frosinone though, but I thought it was Picinisco. Sorry not to be more helpful! |

Hi, you should look at the ScotlandsPeople website. There are 7 births for D'Agostino children in Sprinburn between 1923 and 1963. There was an Antonio born in 1928, Maria Assunta in 1927 and a Maria Raffaela born in 1923. You can only see 100 years or older birth certificates online.
I looked at the one for Maria Raffaela who was born on 15 Dec 1923 at 345 Sprinburn Road. Her parents were Antonio D'Agostino and Maria Faccenda and they were married in Filignano (which is about an hour's drive from Picinisco) on 1st February 1923. As they were usually married in the village of the wife, Maria Faccenda probably came from there but Antonio could have been from Picinisco. However the birth certificate shows he was an electrical engineer not running a cafe but he could have started that a bit later when he had made some money. Maria Rafaela died at age 2 so she could have been an older sister of Antonio and Maria.
You would have to buy the certificate for Antonio D'Agostino or Maria Assunta (spelt Assunda on the website) to see if they had the same parents and if they were running a cafe by then. There are other marriage and death certificates available as well. I found a death certificate for the mother, Maria Faccenda who died in 1943 aged 40. In that one it shows her husband Antonio as a shopkeeper with could well be a cafe owner. (A death only needs to be 50 years old and a marriage 75 years old to look at the certificate online). Her parents are shown as Angelo Nicola and Maria Raffaela Cocozza and her father was still alive at the time. I found a death certificate for her husband Antonio in 1952 and his parents were Felice D'Agostino (deceased) also shown as a cafe proprietor and his mother was Maria Raffaela Coletta.
If you email me at salvetafamilytree@btinternet.com I can send you copies of the certificates and give you some help about the website if necessary. Carla |
