The Origins of the Capaldi Family

During my successful search for my Capaldi forebears I have not managed to discover the exact single location of origin of the Capaldi family name.

The Capaldi families who emigrated throughout the world seem to have originated from 3 main locations viz:
San Giuseppe, Picinisco
San Michele, Cassino (San Germano)
Selvone, Filignano

Are there any known links between these locations? e.g did the Capaldi name start in Cassino and move to San Giuseppe? Or vice versa.

Is there any truth in the story that the Capaldi families from Selvone moved there from San Giuseppe?

Finally General Capaldi from San Giuseppe who supported Garibaldi, can anyone give me some details e.g. his first name and his forebears and also when did he join the forces of Garibaldi.

If you have any information on the above matters or able to direct me to where I can get more details please advise me.

According to Cesidio Capaldi, who lived next door to the General's palazzo when he was a child, the General's first name was Amerigo.
