Beniamino Crolla b-abt 1830+Gracinta Crolla (nee?)b-abt 1833

If anybody has any information can you please contact me ie: place of origin in Italy or b-m-d's of Beniamino Crolla b-abt 1830 + wife Gracinta (nee ?) b-abt 1833. Beniamino + Gracinta married in Italy most likely around 1850-60 period.

It is standard practice for English census to list birth origin as Naples but I think they are from either Monte Cassino or Picinisco. Beniamino died in Italy before 1881 and Gracinta died on 27/07/1901 in Ancoats Manchester England. I would appreciate any help finding Gracinta's Maiden name also., thankyou.

Beniamino (aka Benjamin or Bernard) + Gracinta (aka Cindis or Juanita)
had 5 children Michael Angelo Crolla b-abt 1854, Antonio Crolla b-abt 1857, Giovanni (aka John) Crolla b-abt 1860, Maria Melaragni (nee Crolla) b-abt 1860 & Meyrick Crolla b-abt 1862. They were all born in Italy and all married in Ancoats Manchester through out the early 1880's except Antonio who married in London & Michael Angelo who married in Italy before 1881.

Thankyou Michele, That certainly does look like the correct family. What a shame that 3 children died in the same week in 1876. I wonder if there was an epidemic in 1876 Italy that caused the family to emigrate to England?

Here is the information I have so far (if you want to know spouses parentage I can add that also), below I have added to the Genealogy file you posted the births/marriages/deaths in uk/usa etc.

Beniamino Crolla had a brother called Carmine Crolla[widow] who died aged 64yrs on 23/01/1901 at the home of his niece Maria Melaragni (nee Crolla) 9 Jersey Street, Ancoats, Manchester.
Maria's mother[Beniamino's widow] Gracinta Crolla died age 63yrs at the same address as above on d-27/06/1901.

As far as I know Michael Angelo Crolla had no children, he lived with his nephew (my grandad) Bernard Crolla + family at 58 Gun Street, Ancoats, Manchester when he died in 1927.

Hi Michel, Just 2 questions please

1. It says on your Picinisco Crolla tree that Carlo Beniamino's parents are Samuelle Michele Angelo Crolla+Maria Cervi, but on the familysearch LDS site it says his parents are Michelle Angelo Crolla+Maria Corai (see below). Can you please find out which is the correct mother, thankyou for all your help Michel, you're a star.

2. Could you please tell me if the second MICHELE CROLLA(n.17/10/1858-PICINISCO (IT)) you listed above in your original post is a clerical error and actually could be Maria Crolla? the age would almost fit Maria who was 23yrs old on her 03/07/1884 marriage certificate. This would make her birth around 1861. It is quite common for Italians to give the wrong age before 1900 when most in the uk were illiterate, or simply did not know their birth year. Maria is definately the childrens sister, I just don't understand why her name is not there in your list. The widowed mother Giacinta Crolla always lived with daughter Maria & Maria's husband Crescenzo Melarangi+family in Manchester.

I have made some adjustments to Giovanni Crolla's children & also Maria Melarangi's Children in my previous post above, all is now correct

I am at present in contact with relatives from all branches of the Crolla family except Almerico Crolla. I'm also in contact with the Melarangi family ...regards Santina Crolla
